The administrative expenses for each person are @$700 less per year per person in Canada where it is single payer.

Until Wall Street got so involved in health care with HMO's, the percentage of premium money spent on claims in the US was in the middle 90's.

Now they're complaining about 80%. Give me a break.

Thank you for this article. It is very true that most families will go with plans that have higher deductibles and lower premiums.

You have a lot of great points! Thank you so much for posting it. It's incredible that the government tries to look like they have given religious employers "the right" to not have to cover contraceptives, and sterilization methods ,including the morning after pill, in their insurance, when they have had that right since the 1st Amendment was written (as you referred to). Americans must start to be well versed in our rights or the government will continue to overstep its boundaries and then claim to be the good guy when it gives us our rights back, that we have had from the beginning.

I agree that going into early retirement means giving up on one's employee health insurance. This might mean forking out money from the retirement's fund. Planning and budgeting for health insurance is the smartest thing to do before going into the actual early retirement itself.

Interesting what is going on in the market for SMBs right now, there are several articles about small businesses and what motivates the insurance and health benefit plans but overall I found a lot of good reading here.

Hi Cathy thank you for visiting our blog i hope you enjoy the information, please dont keep us a secret and share with your friends.
As far as your question, Group plans which i assume is what your future employer has are Guaranteed Issue which means that Pre -existing conditions
would be covered. Depending on the Group plan and the employer contribution their may be a rate up for the employer with the Insurance Co.
But this in most cases should not affect you. if you do have an issue or need further assistance or if you have any further questions
please do not hesitate to call CHP at : 877 -749-2241 or visit www.customhealthplans.com . One of our Insurance Specialists can help.

Thanks,
Ric Monello

I was recently let go back in Feb of this year and could not afford 700/month for COBRA. I was recently admitted to a hospital here in North Houston where they did a CT scan and found a tumor on my small intestine. I was just hired on at a facility where my insurance will kick in October of this year. Would they consider this a pre existing condition? The insurance is thru United Health Care. If they dont, any suggestions where to go to seek treatment?
